St.George Amplify Rewards: how to get started

Amplify Rewards runs across St.George, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne. Here's how it earns, where points can go and what changed in October 2026.

St.George, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne all share one points program: Amplify Rewards. If you bank with any of the three, the same rules apply. In October 2026, along with most banks, they made transfers to airlines less generous.

Here's how Amplify works and what to check now.

What is Amplify Rewards?

Amplify Rewards is the points program on the Amplify Platinum and Signature cards from St.George, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne, all part of the Westpac Group. You earn Amplify points and can transfer them to airlines or Everyday Rewards, or use them on gift cards and travel.

If you want Qantas Points, Amplify points can't be transferred to Qantas. Choose an Amplify Qantas card instead, which earns Qantas Points directly.

How you earn

CardEarn rateAnnual fee
Amplify Platinum2 points per $1 overseas, 1.25 at supermarkets, petrol, dining and utilities, 1 elsewhere; 0.5 after $5,000 a statement$175 after year one
Amplify Signature3 points per $1 overseas, 2 in the same categories, 1 elsewhere; 0.5 after $10,000 a statement$295 after year one

Correct as of October 2026.

Government payments, BPAY and cash advances don't earn points.

Changed 30 September 2026. Customers were also told of a new $75 yearly fee to keep earning Amplify points.

That halves the value of Amplify points sent to Velocity: 100,000 points now buys 25,000 Velocity Points instead of 50,000. Gift cards are poor value, at under half a cent per point. Points transfer partners has the latest bank comparisons.

Points expiry

Amplify points don't expire while your account is open. If you close the card, you have 90 days to use them.

Why banks within a group move together

St.George, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne run on shared systems and buy airline points under shared agreements. When Westpac's own Altitude program changed, Amplify followed. If you're comparing cards, treat banks in the same group as one option, not several.

What I'd do now

  1. Check your new transfer rate in internet banking.
  2. Recalculate your effective earn in Velocity Points.
  3. Transfer only once you've found a reward seat.
  4. Pay the card in full each month.
